Institution description
The Department of Hematology and Oncology of the University Hospital in Leipzig consists of two general hematology units,a bone marrow transplant unit and a large outpatient department. Patients with newly diagnosed acute leukemia and patients with chronic leukemia as well as lymphoma are diagnosed each year. The bone marrow transplant unit has been built in 2000 with the financial help of the José Carreras foundation and is one of the most modern units worldwide In addition to routine Hematology and Oncology,numerous national and international studies are designed and monitored by members of the Division.
