Institution description
The University Hospital Centre Zagreb (KBC-Zagreb) is the biggest and most important hospital in Croatia as well as a unique institution regarding many medical procedures, diagnostic methods and therapeutic procedures. We have more than 50 referral centres of excellence. Clinical Unit for Pharmacogenomics and Therapy Individualisation et KBC-Zagreb in collaboration with Croatian Medicines Agency established Croatian network for adverse drug reactions, which enable identification and recruitment of patients with ADRs and matching controls. A biological sample repository is established for storing DNA from patients with ADRs and link this to a high quality clinical information. We also undertake genotyping of metabolic enzymes and drug transporters to identify and/or validate novel associations. The links with experts in the field and international consortia have been developed which aim to develop predictive genetic tests that could be used to prevent serious ADRs in the future.
