NEPI - The Swedish Network for Pharmacoepidemiology – is a foundation initiated and financed by the Swedish Parliament and reports to the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs. The goal of the foundation is to promote pharmacoepidemiology in Sweden. The board is appointed by the Swedish Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences (www.swepharm.se) and the Swedish Society of Medicine (the scientific organisation of the Swedish medical profession. www.sls.se). The foundation supports a network of professionals within the Swedish health care,pharmacies and authorities working in the field of pharmacoepidemiology. The participating professionals are care-takers,or have access to,local data warehouses generated from comprehensive electronic health records. They cooperate with academic institutions and authorities in performing record-linkage studies based on real-life patient data. The activities of the foundation are financed through the dividends of the foundations capital.
