Institution description
YCC Scotland is one of the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) regional monitoring centres for the Yellow Card Scheme and is jointly funded by the MHRA and the Scottish Government. The remit of the centre is to provide education and training on ADRs,promote the Yellow Card Scheme, and develop research in pharmacovigilance. We work closely with the Scottish Poisons Information Bureau, the Clinical Pharmacology Unit at the University of Edinburgh College of Medicine and the NHS in Scotland. Database analysis is the most common type of research. We have strong links with the Information and Statistics Division of NHS Scotland with whom we have already undertaken a number of projects using ISD data. Current research includes Assessment of a Scottish Community Pharmacy Campaign on Patient Yellow Card Reporting & Side Effects of Medicines in Children.
