Chronic Diseases Research Center of the Faculdade de Ciências Médicas da Universidade Nova de Lisboa (CEDOC/FCM-UNL)

CEDOC from FCM-UNL brings together biomedical,translational & clinical research,and hosts 30 groups and nearly 200 Academics & Clinicians researchers (the majority holding appointments at the School of Medicine or in 10 Hospitals in the Great Lisbon Area). CEDOC joined the Associate Laboratory (2011),a research consortium that ranks top in the Portuguese government evaluations,allowing researchers to state of the art technology & science. CEDOC started with and is strong in molecular biology with articles published in nature and science. Recently,CEDOC has been developing capabilities in pharmacoepidemiology,through GIAI,the Group for Independent Academic Information. GIAI is a partnership between the family practice & pharmacology depts. GIAI aims to close the gap between pharmacoepidemiology evidence & clinical prescribing. In collaboration with the Department of Pharmacoepidemiology of Harvard Medical School,GIAI has produced Prescribing guidelines and evaluates its effects.
