Institution description
The University Hospital of Cologne (UHC) together with the University of Cologne (UoC) is one of the oldest and largest within Europe and is internationally recognised for its high standards of graduate education and academic accomplishment. Interdisciplinary centres directly link basic with translational clinical research: The Center for Molecular Medicine Cologne, the Cologne Center for Genomics, as well as the Center for Integrated Oncology and the Cluster of Excellence on Cellular Stress Responses in Aging-associated Diseases (CECAD). The Medical Faculty sets a major priority in teaching and education in high academic standards besides research and patient care.
UHC has become an excellent location for interdisciplinary research, diagnostics, and treatment. In order to facilitate research in every way, different research support units within the Hospital Administration from grants management to technology transfer and IPR/licensing offer specialised services.
UHC is the coordinator of the clinical research network VACCELERATE (www.vaccelerate.eu). The network comprises 31 partners from 18 EU-member states & 5 countries associated to the EU Horizon 2020 research programme.
