Institution description
Within the University of Lisbon (ULisboa), the largest university in Portugal, the Faculty of Pharmacy (FFUL) provides comprehensive training in pharmaceutical sciences, with particular emphasis on pharmacovigilance, risk management, pharmacoepidemiology, and regulatory science, spanning undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate levels. Within this setting, our research group at the faculty focuses on pharmacoepidemiology and pharmacovigilance, placing a strong emphasis on methodologies that integrate real-world evidence into the evaluation of medicines' efficacy/effectiveness and safety, thus bridging clinical and regulatory science to inform medicines' decision-making.

Our members are actively engaged in both the national and European medicines regulatory landscape, contributing to the work of Infarmed – the National Authority of Medicines and Health Products and the European Medicines Agency (EMA). Through this involvement, our group leverages the experience of academic and regulatory experts who play a direct role in medicines evaluation and decision-making at multiple levels. Additionally, our group collaborates with the largest Regional Pharmacovigilance Unit in Portugal, located within FFUL, providing a unique bridge between academic training, applied research, and regulatory practice.
