Institution description
The Unit Pharmacoepidemiology and Pharmacoeconomics (PE2) is embedded in the Groningen Institute of Pharmacy (GRIP) of the University of Groningen. The group currently consists of two professors,3 ICT-supportive positions (inclusive management of IADB.nl),one secretary,3 post-doc and 10 full-time PhD positions. Several persons,including pharmacists and clinicians work on a part-time PhD position in the group.The research in PE2 mainly pharmacoepidemiological and pharmacoeconomic studies focuses on patients at increased risk,such as pregnant women,children,patients with chronic kidney and cardiovascular diseases and individuals at increased risk for infectious diseases. A close collaboration exist with the Cental EUROCAT-network (birth defect registries covering 1/3 of all births in Europe) and with the Health Protection Agency (London). In the area of pharmacoeconomics of vaccinations,collaboration exist the Netherlands Vaccine Institute.
