The School of Public Health and Community Medicine, Institute of Medicine, University of Gothenburg, conducts extensive education and research in global public health, general practice/family medicine, occupational medicine, environmental medicine, social medicine, medicine use and pharmaceutical policy.
The Register Epidemiology research group conducts observational research with epidemiological methods in different disease areas and to a large extent based on data from health registries of various kinds in Sweden. The main research focus in the last five years was on COVID-19, based on the large project SCIFI-PEARL (Swedish Covid-19 Investigation for Future Insights – a Population Epidemiology Approach using Register Linkage). Another key area currently is pharmacoepidemiology, based on the project HI-SPEED (Health Impact - Swedish Population Evidence Enabling Data-linkage).
